Bipasha Basu

Bipasha’s name means “deep, dark desire.” Bips, as Bipasha is commonly known, truly embodies this. She’s drop-dead gorgeous, a winner of the Ford Supermodel Of The World contest in 1996, and a Bollywood regular. Her transition from model to actor has been enormously successful as evidenced by the large list of Bollywood films she’s had a part in. In short, Bipasha has a myriad of qualities that grab your attention. Her exotic good looks, her sultry gaze and her down-to-earth nature make her the kind of woman who can make you swoon and take her home to mom.
Bipasha is famous for winning the Ford Supermodel Of The World contest in 1996 at the ripe age of 17. Needless to say, this acted as a nice catalyst for Bipasha’s fledgling modeling career, which has included countless magazine covers, spreads and fashion shows, resulting in her being dubbed the Goddess of the Ramp.
While quite successful as a model, Bipasha has carved out quite a film career for herself by acting in over 30 films since 2001. Bipasha is India’s answer to Lindsay Lohan (sans the omnipresent familial drama). Bipasha has experienced a high degree of success in both modeling and acting, as she's both a celebrated Bollywood actress and the 1996 winner of the biggest modeling contest in the world: the Ford Supermodel Of The World contest. Since her debut in the industry, Bips started taking on more serious, dramatic roles that have helped her acting range evolve and have secured her spot as a talent to be reckoned with.
Bipasha claims that she was harassed by organizers of the controversial 2006 India Day Parade in Edison, New Jersey. Organizers are saying that they will sue Bipasha for breach of contract for not participating in the event and alleging harassment.

Nidhi Gill, who plays the lead role in 'Bipasha-the black beauty', issued a legal notice to Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu for allegedly making defamatory remarks against her in the section of media.

The Bipasha Basu-Cristiano Ronaldo interaction(in July 2007) in Lisbon over is threatening to snowball into a scandal the likes of which Bollywood has not yet seen. Hours after a London tabloid ran a front page photograph of the Portuguese soccer star kissing the actress, and the same photograph went on the net, an outraged Bipasha struggled to control the damage to her image in Mumbai.

"All the joy of that meeting with my favourite footballer has evaporated," said Bipasha bitterly. She was in Lisbon to announce the new Seven Wonders of the World on July 7,2007, when she met the Manchester United striker who is fast overtaking David Beckham in the world soccer popularity stakes.
